Following the Super Saturday’s Fantastic experience of 3rd November 2007 with Motivational Speaker and Network Marketing Millionaire John Di Lemme, I was compelled to write this article. I have condensed notes I took from the event and created an article entitled: 10 TIPS to reach your Goals and create the future YOU WANT!
Disclaimer: Reading this article, remembering its content and applying these tips daily will drastically Improve your life.
1. Set your goal, your dream… your WHY.
This is where it all starts… the fundamentals. A goal will disconnect you from you past and connect you to the future you want. Setting a goal is very important and a goal with a Strong WHY behind it is 500% more achievable. You see, you will need commitment & sacrifice to reach your goal so you must be extremely passionate to stick to it. Your Whys will keep you focused! So create you very own WHY card and read it aloud first thing in the morning. The Why card is a list of thing you envision yourself doing when you reach you goal, your dream life essentially. 2. Develop a habit of consistency
So, you read a great book describing how to become financially independent in 5 years. You are excited and think it’s the greatest book you ever bought! You are totally committed, can’t sleep at night with excitement, follow instructions to the letter and do all that needs to be done for a full 3 days!! A month later you don’t even remember where you put the book. Ever happened to you? You cannot aspire to achieve your goals until you develop a habit of consistency. How? John di Lemme’s answer is simple. Do it Daily!
3. Do it DAILY
Champions do all the time what others do only occasionally!, so whatever your goal is, you must stick to a daily action plan, not a weekly or monthly plan. Acting daily on your goal ensures you will build the habit extremely quickly. Think about it, we wash our teeth and drink water daily. Do we need to remind ourselves? No! We do it habitually. The reason is that when we were kids our parents harassed us to wash our teeth daily. Now its 2nd nature. Whatever your goals are, create time to act on your goals daily and build the habit.
4. Evaluate your efforts daily
Make sure that just before going to sleep at night you evaluate your daily efforts towards your goals. Say something like “If I do what I did today everyday, will I reach my goal?” So if you want to lose 20 pounds and had pizza for lunch, 2 pints of beer and skipped exercise that is not going to get you there. Re-affirm your commitment towards your goal and get back on track the next day. DO NOT feed negative messages like I’ve been stupid today, or I am not capable to stick to it. Negativity will blur your goal and make it harder to achieve. On the other hand if you took positive actions, DO compliment yourself. This will instill a positive feedback mechanism which will smooth up the path for success.
5. Choose your friends wisely
In the previous step I mention to avoid talking yourself into Negative talk. Unfortunately our friends can sabotage our efforts with their continuous dose of negative talk. Have you ever noticed that some people we regard friends are telling us what we can’t do, instead of what we CAN do. If your friends are like that and you want to achieve your goals you have two choices. Avoid the subject with them, or avoid them completely. Before judging this tip as too extreme, remember that the people we more time spent with, the more we tend to pick their habits, opinions & way of thinking. In other words we become more like them, whether we like it or not. This is proven. You need to decide! Would you rather become a nagging, depressed, unhealthy loser or an action taking, success driven, multi millionaire champion? It’s your choice!
6. Expose yourself and meet more people
One of the best ways to reach your goal is to surround yourself with like minded individuals, with similar goals in life and learn from and inspire each other. Being part of a collective will strengthen your beliefs, making reaching your goals more worthwhile.
7. Don’t be Insane
Ok, John di Lemme did not say this… Albert Einstein did. He defined insanity as doing the same thing every time and expecting different results. In order for thing to change in your life you must change. Just realize that if you want to achieve a goal which at present seems impossible to achieve, you must change your mindset.
8. Learn to GROW from your struggles
Personal achievement is like fitness or weight lifting. The more you do of it the better you become. Then it happens. You hit your brick wall and you stop growing. You have two choices, quit or keep at it and try something different. Any there you go again, you break through the brick wall and you find you grew more. Therefore when you are in a struggle, remember this, you can quit and consider yourself defeated or keep at it, win the game and become a better person. Also keep in mind, the more challenges you win the stronger you will be for your next challenge.
9. Invest 1/96th of your day
Today the most common phrases are ‘I’m too busy!’ or ‘I don’t have time!’ We are in a situation where we need to maximize our time in general, but more importantly for our own benefit. If we divide a day in 15 minute intervals, the answer would be 96. It is crucial we invest 1/96 of each day for our personal achievements. Make a decision to invest 15 minutes daily to read or listen to material related to your goal. Therefore if your goal is better health, read health related material. If your goal is a better financial situation learn how you can achieve that. Remember to do so for 15 minutes Every Day.
10. Have fun
One sure thing that will smoothen the path for success is to have fun along the way. Learn to enjoy what you do and reward yourself at each success, however small that may be. Remember that every small step forward is one step closer to your goal.
